
1.
Membership:
a)
A full member
is a journalist by profession working within the field of medicine
and of the health service. Admission fee will be Rs.200/= and annual
subscription also Rs.100/-. Life Membership fee Rs.2,000/- (two
thousand only)
b)
AN
AFFILIATE does not qualify for full membership but does have an
interest in medical journalism and supports the aims of the PMJA.
c)
The
Executive Committee of PMJA can with a unanimous decision confer
FULL MEMBERSHIP on any distinguished member of the medical
profession in recognition of his contribution to the cause of
Medical Journalism in
Pakistan.
2.
Expulsion from Membership/Restoration of Membership:
If at any
time it is found that the activities of any member are prejudicial
and injurious to the interest and cause of the Association, the
Managing Committee shall have the right and power to expel that
member from the membership of the Association. If the disqualified
member submits an apology or a satisfactory explanation to the
President, his membership can be restored.
3.
Maintenance:
The maintenance of
the Association shall rest in the hands of Pakistani Nationals who
may come forward to extend their assistance and cooperation, but all
such assistance and help shall be refused if it interferes with the
aims and objects of the Association.
4.
Management:
The
Management of the Association shall rest with a committee called
Managing Committee Consisting of four members.
5. Office
Bearers:
The
Association shall have the following office bearers:-
President
Vice-President
General Secretary
Joint Secretary
6. Tenure of
the Office Bearers:
The normal
tenure of the office bearer shall of two years from the date of
their election, after which fresh elections shall be held.
7. President:
The President shall preside over all the meetings of the Association
and shall enjoy all administrative power of on behalf of the
Managing Committee.
8. Vice
President
He shall preside, act and enjoy all administrative power of the
President in his absence.
9. Power and
duties of the General Secretary
General Secretary shall have the following powers and discharge the
duties as under:-
(i) He
shall convene meetings of the Managing Committee and General
Meetings and Special Meetings and Annual General Meetings of the
Association in consultation of the President.
(ii) He
shall be responsible for timely and correct implementation of the
decisions of the meetings of Managing Committee and General Body
Meetings of the Association.
(iii) He
shall supervise, manage look after the activities of the Association
(iv) He
shall do all correspondence on behalf of the Association and shall
perform duties under the supervision of the President.
(v) He
shall have powers to suspend and take disciplinary action against
any staff of the office of the Association after the approval of the
Managing Committee and make alternate arrangements by making
temporary appointment thereupon.
(vi) He
shall discharge any other duty as may be required by the Managing
Committee or the President
(vii) He
shall maintain proper books of accounts according to the
instructions of the Managing Committee and the directions of the
President.
(viii) He
shall deposit all the money ii a scheduled bank to be approved by
the Managing Committee.
10. Joint
Secretary:
He shall act as General Secretary when General Secretary is on leave and
is asked to do so by the General Secretary or President.
11. Managing
Committee:
(i) The
Managing Committee shall consist of four members, which shall
include President, Vice-President, General Secretary and Joint
Secretary.
(ii) The
Managing Committee shall have full powers to utilize the funds of
the Association to achieve the aims.
(iii) The
Managing Committee shall authorize the General Secretary to make
appointments of staff for office and fieldwork as may be required
from time to time.
(iv) The
Managing Committee shall run, maintain and administer the affairs of
the Association.
(v) The
Managing Committee shall have power to decide about collection
donations and aids in the best interest of the Associations.
(vi) The
Managing Committee shall fix up date for holding General Elections
of office bearers.
(vii) To
fill up vacancy in the Managing Committee due to the resignation,
death or expulsion from its remaining members.
(viii) The
Managing Committee shall have power to decide about disposal of
moveable and immovable properties belonging to Association viz,
sale, mortgage or lease and so on.
12.
Meeting:
There shall be special and general meetings of the General Body of
the Association and Managing Committee.
13.
Quorum:
In the special or general meeting of the Managing Committee attendance of
three members shall form the quorum. In the special and meeting of
general body attendance of two third of the total membership, shall
form the quorum.
14. Notice
of Meeting:
Proper notice will be issued as contained in Societies Registration
Act 1860.
15.
Accounting Year:
The Official Accounting Year of the Association shall be from
January to December.
16.
Election of Office Bearers:
(i) The
office bearers and members of Managing Committee shall be elected
after every two years.
(ii)
Every decision of General Body meeting or Managing Committee shall
be made by simple majority of votes and in case of tie the President
of the meeting shall have casting vote.
17.
Function of the General Body:
The General Body meeting will be held at least
once a year or on a requisition by or at least one third of total
membership to discuss the following:-
(i) To
review the Annual Report of activities and progress of the
Association during the preceding year prepared by General Secretary
and approved by the Managing Committee.
(ii) To
scrutinize and pass the accounts of the Association.
(iii) To
form the policy of the Association for next year and holding of
election of the Managing Committee.
18. Fund:
(i) All
funds of the Association shall be deposited in any schedule Bank
which shall be decided by the Managing Committee
(ii) The
Accounts shall be opened and operated under joint signatures of the
President and the General Secretary or any other members of Managing
Committee as resolved by the Managing Committee.
(iii) The
Accounts of the Association shall be audited every year. The
Managing Committee shall appoint the auditors.
19. Amendments:
Any amendment in the approved memorandum of Association and Articles
of Association shall be made by 2/3 majority of votes of the special
General Meeting convened for the purpose.
20. Wound-up:
The affairs of the Association may be wound-up by the Special
Meeting of the General Body of the Association and all its assets
after clearing the liabilities shall be transferred to a similar
registered Association or Society.
